Oregon Ducks Game Oregon VS Arizona State

We went to the Duck game! It was a lot of fun and very loud. The duck crowd is pretty rowdy. Probably because most of them are drunk. We had some real weirdos in front of us.

The duck stadium was pretty impressive. There were over 58,ooo in attendance.

Sprained ankle

Kirkland had a rough start to the football season this year. He badly sprained his ankle a day before football started.

Washington State Lighthouses

The last thing we did on our trip was drive over the Astoria bridge into Washington. They had two lighthouses we wanted to see. We had to hike to both of them. They had some amazing views.

This was a neat beach that was below one of the light houses.

Maritime Museum

We went to the Maritime Museum. Which is a huge museum about boats. It was kind of boring, but it had some cool stuff inside especially for Dave since his dad was a Merchant Marine

We went to a parade in Astoria. These girls from a play in town were going through the crowd and this one said "Ew La La look at this," and went up to Garrett. His face was so red. She asked Garrett to personally come and watch her show.

The Famous Flavel House

This house was also in the Goonies. It was the house of the ritchest family in Astoria. It was really cool inside. The Flavel's became so wealthy from shipping companys.

Our next stop was the coastal town of Seaside. Seaside reminded me of pictures of beaches in Florida because of the big buildings right on the coast except its not warm. It was a very touristy town with lots of fun shopping. Here is a sunset there.

Kirkland got a skim board and had some fun at the beach even though it wasn't that warm.

Goonies House

This was on the coast between Cannon Beach and Seaside. This is the spot where the Goonies was filmed. The view from where the restaurant was in Goonies

The place where the restaurant from the Goonies was filmed. As we were driving to this spot do you remember when the jerk was chasing Brandt on the little girls bike. It was along the rode to here that they filmed it. When we were driving through there we were all like hey this is where they filmed the bike part. It was pretty cool.

Of course Astoria is a famous town to film movies in. They have filmed more than 16 movies there. This is a picture of the school from Kingergarden Cop.

The Goonies House

This part of the country was rich with history. We toured a lot of places that Lewis and Clark had discovered. We went to a winter settlement of Lewis and Clarks. This is one of the canoes they used.

Our next stop was Fort Stevens. Fort Stevens was an old military base. The Japenese attacked the United States in WWII and this is where we fought. We fought from the land and from the Columbia River. The fort was really cool. A boys dream place. The boys found it very interesting and cool. We went on an underground tour of where they kept these huge guns and ammo. These huge guns would pop up and fire over this huge wall and then go back down and the ships were unable to see where the shot had come from.

Part of the fort. This is the wall that the cannons would shoot over. You can go through the doors and see have everything worked down below and how the cannon balls were brought to the top.
